ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN OR UP?

Are you like the ostrich burying your head in the sand when you’re scared or frightened?

Some people bury their head in the preverbal sand when they are facing trials and tribulations. Life’s challenges can be difficult. Instead of dealing with situations, some people bury their heads in the sand like ostriches. If you are one that hides, I’ve got news for you…YOU CAN’T HIDE FROM YOURSELF!!

Contrary to the popular myth, ostriches do not bury their head in the sand when scared or frightened. In fact, when the ostrich senses danger and cannot run away, it will flop on the ground and remain still, attempting to blend in with the terrain. The ostrich will use its beak several times a day to turn the eggs in their nest, creating the illusion of burying its head in the sand.

Humm… when you sense danger or an unpleasant situation what do you do? Are you burying your head in the proverbial sand or trying to blend in with the terrain in your life? Attempting to

avoid unpleasant situations or problems is not always possible. Avoidance does not make them go all the way. Are you one who does not take a phone call from a bill collector, a family member or friend for fear that the call will not be pleasant because there may be a situation that you are not ready to deal with? Are there somethings in your life that you find too difficult to face? Enough with the questions if you identify with any of the above you might have the “ostrich effect”.

Let’s take a look at some ways one can overcome the “ostrich effect”.

First things, first you are not alone. “Be strong, Be Brave. Be fearless. You are not alone.” (Joshua 1:9)

Secondly, the “ostrich effect” offers no value to your life, there is no upside to hiding. Remember “no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17)

Overcoming the “ostrich effect” will be very beneficial to your health and well-being. As the bible says, the truth will set you free,” even if the truth is unpalatable. Did you know that the ostrich is often seen as a symbol of strength, power, and determination. It’s often associated with grounding and stability. We can learn from their positive attributes and apply them to our own lives. God’s word can show us how to rise above life’s difficulties and live as an overcomer. You too can be grounded, stable, strong, powerful, determined and live as an overcomer.

The word overcomer in the Greek means being victorious, prevailing, and conquering.

You too can be “VICTORIOUS”….a “CONQUEROR” an “OVERCOMER” by walking in faith and not in fear. By not believing the lie of the enemy.

Ladies, when difficult situations arise, and they will, we must face them with our spiritual eyes wide open, saying what God says about us. Living each day with our hearts full of faith in Christ knowing that we are loved.  Jesus said I know your afflictions (pressures) and poverty (yet you are rich). Ask the Lord to help you live as an overcomer from this day forward.

Take your head out of the sand…..lift up your eyes and look to the heavens.
