Still Fierce… and We Survived!

Have you ever noticed that when you host an event, people usually remember the laughter, the food, the fellowship, and the fun—but they never see what was happening behind the scenes?

Well...let me tell you...thank God for behind-the-scenes miracles!

Our recent Still Fierce: The Leopard Experience Brunch was a beautiful success, but if events earned Olympic medals for unexpected surprises, this one would have qualified for the gold!

Picture this...

The guests are beginning to arrive...

The caterer is running late...

The room is still being prepared...

Decorations are going up...

Volunteers are moving with purpose...

And I'm smiling on the outside while quietly praying on the inside!

Then came surprise number two...

The air conditioning decided it wanted the day off too! I'll be honest—I was beginning to wonder if our Still Fierce brunch was about to become the Still Sweating brunch! Thankfully, someone rolled in one of those huge industrial fans—the kind that makes you feel like you're starring in your own music video. I laughed and told the ladies, "Alright now...everybody just pretend you're Beyoncé!"

Immediately, the room erupted in laughter as hair started blowing and smiles got even bigger. Then I looked around and joked, "Well ladies...between this fan and the temperature, everybody's having a hot flash today!"

At that point, we had two choices. We could complain...Or we could laugh. Thankfully, we chose laughter. Sometimes the plans don't go as expected. Sometimes the caterer is late. The air conditioner quits. And God still gives you a room full of joy. Once everything settled down, the room filled with laughter, conversations, beautiful smiles, and women celebrating one another. The mocktails were a hit! The games reminded us that we're never too old to laugh. The line dancing proved that some of us still have moves...and some of us have enthusiasm! The interactive activities reminded us that every woman has wisdom worth sharing.

Most importantly, the message resonated. Women were reminded that they are still valuable, still beautiful, still purposeful, still fierce...and yes...still blooming. Before I close, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who helped make the day possible. Behind every successful event is a team of people who quietly serve, solve problems, encourage one another, and simply do whatever needs to be done. Thank you to our Diva 65 Squad, our volunteers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes. Your time, talents, and willingness to serve helped transform a few unexpected moments into a beautiful experience for every woman who attended.

I left the brunch tired...but grateful.

Grateful for every woman who attended.

Grateful for every volunteer who served.

Grateful for every laugh we shared.

Grateful that what could have been remembered for its challenges became remembered for its celebration.

If you're waiting until everything in your life is perfectly in place before pursuing your dream, don't wait. Our brunch reminded me of something I'll never forget. Flowers don't wait for perfect weather to bloom. They bloom anyway. And so should we.
